When you begin the test, you will be asked a series of background questions about yourself; please answer those questions as accurately as possible.
The ACCUPLACER assessment score isn't totally based on the number of correct responses, but on the difficulty value of the items answered correctly. The test adapts to how well you're doing, becoming more difficult to how well you're doing, becoming more difficult as you answer questions correctly. More difficult questions are worth more points. When you answer incorrectly, the test items become less difficult, and thus less valuable in terms of score. At the end, the difficulty values are totaled and applied to the score scale. Higher scores mean you place in higher level courses.
The Assessment Test may be taken no more than two times in any semester and not more than three times in any two-year period. The college requires a 14 day wait between testing. Placement results will be valid for two years or as recommended by the instrument publisher.
